Vostok1520 diversifies its domestic freight flows

Railway operator Vostok1520 (part of First Heavy Haul Company) saw a 60% increase in its coal shipments to energy and utilities enterprises at the end of 2018 (compared with the previous year), reporting a total shipment of 5.8 million tonnes.

The company has diversified its freight flow operations. Recipients of freight shipments made over the course of the year included major enterprises in regions served by the West Siberian, Far Eastern, East Siberian and Krasnoyarsk railways, including Novosibirskenergo, DGK, Kuzbassenergo, TGC-14 (Generatsiya Buryatii), etc. Beginning September 2018 the operator has sent freight supplied by Intaugol via the Northern Railwayto TGC-2. Between October and December 2018 Vostok1520 was responsible for 60% of coal deliveries to the company, shipping around 135,000 tonnes.

Vostok1520 is systematically increasing domestic shipments by streamlining the management of its fleet and reaping the rewards of next generation freight cars. The company's strategies include the creation of routes with yard operations, the supply of cars for loading in line with the schedule, and the organization of heavy haul routes. These measures allow for an increase in car turnover, the timely supply of coal to Russian enterprises and the prevention of local fleet deficits at various points across the network.
